Why Facebook Ads?
Facebook is being used by more than 1.4 billion people across the world, and it is getting 900 million visits every day. That means you can target a vast audience group for your ads. This massive user base makes Facebook one of the best places to promote your products and services.
On Facebook, You can promote for free as well but targeting the right kind of audience from specific locations, age, and genders can only be done using the Facebook Ads.
Today, I am here to share a quick guide to creating Facebook Ads in which I will be sharing everything that you need to set up a Facebook Ad.
Below is the step by step guide to creating a Facebook Ad
Log into your Facebook Account first and choose the option Create Adverts
It will take a few seconds to setting up, and then you will be prompted a page where you need to choose the objective of your ad campaign:
There are many objectives listed, out of which you need to select one to proceed. The selection depends on what you want to promote.
If you wish to boost some of your Facebook posts, then you can choose “Boost Your Posts”. However, you can see this option below every post on your Fan page too. You can alternatively choose “Promote your page” to increase the number of likes and audience on your fan page.
Similarly, you can use any option as per your requirement. One of the popularly used objectives is “Send People to your Website”. Yes, this is popular because you may have a sales page on your website where you want to redirect visitors so that they can make some purchases.
Now, select any of the objectives shown in the above screenshot. Choose “Send People to your website” as of now, and click on it. You will see the option to enter the URL where you want the visitors to go.
Enter the URL, and wait for a few seconds. Now, you will see this:
You can edit the campaign name to anything. Now, at the bottom of the page, you will see “Create Advert Account”. Click on that.
It will take you to a page where you will be asked to enter your account info. Fill the details as asked, and click on “Set Audience & Budget”.
Now, you will be taken to the page where you will be asked to set the audience type and Geo Targeting. Fill that as per the requirement.
The first option is to select the Location in which you can define countries or cities to target. You can see there “Add Bulk Locations”, click that and add as many countries or locations you want to add separated by commas. After that, click on “Match Locations”. All the locations that match with the list of locations of Facebook will be added to the targeting locations.
Now, set the Age, Gender and Language as required.
Now, comes the detailed targeting option that enables you to select the interests and behaviors. For example, if you want to promote your web hosting company, you should select interests such as web hosting, Cpanel hosting, Hosting Discount, etc.
As you will put the cursor, in the text box, you will be able to see many options to select from.
As the Facebook Ads are shown by using your Fan page, or some Events or Apps, you need to set the Connections as well.
If you select Facebook Pages > Exclude People who like your page, the ad won’t display to the people who liked your Fan page. Apart from it, there are other options too that you can see in the screenshot. You can select the options for different purposes.
The Audience defining task is now done, and you can see the reach in numbers on the right side of the page as:
It shows that as per the target you set, the total reach will be 6,400,000 which is incredibly an enormous number.
The next step is setting the budget and duration of the ads.
Look at the above screenshot where you can set either the daily budget or lifetime budget. As you increase the budget, your daily reach increases that you can see on the right side.
For more customization you can click on “Show Advanced Options”.
All done, now click on Choose Creative which will ask you to add image(s) for the ad.
You will see the above screen. Now you can select a Single image or multiple images option. Let’s select Single image option for now. Below you can see, Images, Slideshow, and Videos options, right? Click on Images, and upload a good image for the advert.
For the images Facebook has some recommendations:
- 1200 x 628 Px size should be good.
- Image ratio: 1.91:1
- The image may not include more than 20% text.
To get your ad quickly approved, consider the above points. When I was not aware of this, I created an ad, and the creative I used had 50% of the text. Due to this ad was not approved, and I had to work on the creative again. So, better read these recommendations, and follow them.
Now, the final step is to connect your fan page to the Ad so that ad will be shown under your Fan page name.
The above screenshot says all about connecting the page, and how it will display. Also, you can write catchy Headline and Ad Text for the ad.
There are a few more options given that you can see in the screenshot below:
You can fill them all if you want or you can leave them empty as well. However, Call to Action is important. You can select any one from the dropdown according to your ad, and you will see the call to action button on your ad.
Now, click on Place Order at the bottom, and fill the payment details. And, you are done!
